water leaks
Hello everyone , New to this forum bought a w202 280 V6 with 177430 kilometers on it , I live in Australia so yes metric like german's. Car is great to drive but needs hood lining reglued, (don,t have a sunroof thank god) and I have minor water leak from what appears to be coming from under rear door trims after rain or washing . I suspect rear door water deflectors have come unstuck some where. Any advice about my car on any topic always welcome. PS cheapest genuine fuel filter I can find here in Australia is $95 dollars does anyone know the bosch part # so I don't have to get under the car to read it. Regards Torn65

What year s you car?
There are a lot of fuel filters available other than Bosch that work just fine in the $18.00 to $22.00 US dollar range.
Where is the water entering the car? Best to have someone inside and spray the area, so they can see the entry point.
Just looked at the cost of mailing from the US to Australia, and it is bizarre.

Hello ptcruiser, thanks for your reply, my benz is a 1998 model, the water appears at the bottom of the rear door trims where the trim meets the door panel. It seems to build up between the door and sill panel until it over flows into the left hand rear foot well which makes me think the water deflector behind the door trim has come unstuck. I will try the hose trick but still need to see behind the door trim to see if I am right. Would you have the brand and part number of the fuel filter you use? My replies maybe delayed due to the time difference between US and Australia. Regards Torn65

The problem may be the window. On the exterior of the window at the bottom, is a weather strip that runs horizontal. If this strip is in poor shape, the rain or hose water could be running down inside the door and collecting in the door.
2 things check the weather strip, and if it is in bad shape, replace it. I found one on Ebay for my drivers window. I can send you the sellers contact info, and you can see if he has another one if needed. Next option is to drill a hole close to the outside edge of the door bottom to allow it to drain. No one would ever see it. If the water stays in the door, it can rust and affect the window motor and connections with humidity.
Here is the fuel filter info: Koolman part number 002-477-28-01 I paid $13.40 US
The seller is euroautoworks and you can find them on the US Ebay site.
