c-class grills on ebay

hey guys,

anybody try out those lookalike s600 grills that fit w202's on ebay. they're around 100 bucks and they look decent. i've tried some other stuff for my car on ebay and i'm not truly happy (exhaust - too loud, keychain - broke in a week). any other suggestions, comments, or grills out there would be helpful. thanks.

Do a search... in my opinion... they're good looking.

I have it on my '99 C280 (purchased from jkmotoring) and well worth it. It's plastic but makes a world of difference. I posted a pic up and assembly a while back. Scorchie has a good DIY installation file too.

Mine hasn't fallen off like those cheap clear corners from procarparts.com. hehehehe

good luck,

i got a 6400 in mine (i think you were referrin' to fast mayte, no?) and what you need is a audi/vw wiring harness. that will do the trick. just wire up the MB harness to the vw/audi harness, plug 'er in and it's all good.

it looks nice when the install is finished. i'll post up a pic here:

hey, oh i have a 6400 too i think. actually i did. i work at a dealership and we had a car with a alpine yesyterday so i swaped them out . schweettt system.
i actually didn't have the patients to wait for the wiring harness cuz i was drooling over my pioneer when i first got it so i spliced the wires. it's worked fine. i've had it for about 8 months now. well till yesterday. i rewired the alpine harness to the spliced one. all is well.
only one thing though. them wires poked me!!! only down side i've had. oh and the stock mb speakers suck really bad.

haha. um...you also need a european antenna adapter so that your MB one will work with the deck. it's like a few bux for the adapter. besides the audi/vw wiring harness, euro antenna adapt, i think your pretty much all set...ooh, you need a dash kit as well for audi/vw (pretty sure on the audi/vw "type", dash kit is a must for the pioneer to fit in the stock slot).

so three things:

1) audi/vw harness
2) euro antenna adapter
3) dash kit (pretty sure audi/vw as well)

other than that, your pretty much a go. wiring the harness is pretty simple, just take your time and don't slice your finger :p

just splice from the MB factory harness into the audi/vw one, hook it up with the twist caps (match color for color) and plug 'er in. then same goes for the antenna adapter (which i believe is a coax/type head). after that, plug that into the socket behind the deck and you should be all good my man.

any other questions, let me know.

oh and only get the scotch (or however it's spelt) one for vw/audi. don't think the othe ones fit

i dunno...i needed a dash kit for mine because the pioneer didn't fit in snuggly...so needed the kit to make it fit just right.

i don't see how theres any difference in the dash hole for the stereo...maybe your stereo was the same size as the OEM MB one?

is this the grill that you tape on or is it more like the actual avantgarde grill?

by tape on, you mean the chrome strips? This one actually replaces your original "honey-comb" insert. The original frame stays, just unscrew the grey stock insert and stick this one in. Easy swap I believe.
