need help deciding

hey all,
ok, my front passanger corner light (stock) has been loose for a few years now and once in a while, i'll have to pop it back in. Plus its cracked...so this gives me an excuse to get clear corners, hehe

anywho, you guys think i should go with the regular clear corners or the crystal clear corners....i havent' seen one with the crystal clears yet...anyone?

Thanks!

what are the crystal clear corners?? You should definately get clears for the front, they look very nice on the c-class (get the all clear ones, not the US ones,,, if that is what you mean by crystal clear)

yea, they're on ebay and some member from club202 just got 'em for his ride...tho he hasn't posted a pic. Looks sweet tho. Lemme get the link: Crystal Clears

i'm just thinking that it may be too clear for the w202 front and the regular clear corners would look better (cuz my headlights aren't the clear glass ones like newer w202's?) ugh...so undecided between the two. if i had pics of both to compare on w202's that would be great.

Another Sourse

Club202 had this link recently for inexspensive clear coners. No one has reported back how they are yet. In previous posts here, people say the e-bay corners tend to be low quality, don't fit well, fall out, and allow water to come in. Others reccomend Beckkers for obtaining corners, even though more expensive. I do not have any personal experience with any of them.

Good luck.

btw...is the bulb for the turn signal amber or clear? because if i change to clear corner, will i have to buy different bulbs? I just thought that since the amber corner is amber that the bulb inside would just be a regular clear one

yes, the original bulb is amber colored. you can just get replacement OEM clear ones that are DOT/SAE approved at any local auto shop such as Pep Boys and are really cheap. they arent going to blink white like the white of superwhite headlight bulbs though. or you can just get the superwhite corner bulbs.

i put a bid on a set. I e-mailed some of the people who bid on the w202 versions as well as w140 versions. They all day that the quality is just like OEM and fit perfectly compared to others they've tried. No leakage or anything.

Let us know....

If you get the corners from e-bay how they turn out.

Using the amber bulb in a clear corner gives you the "egg yoke with white around" look.

If this bothers you (as DOT regulations require an amber front corner light, not white) there are special (i.e. expensive) bulbs that avoid this. Pictures I have seen are of a bulb with a silver coating on the outside, like a one way mirror. When the amber bulb underneith is illuminated, the amber shows through. When not lit, the silver coating hides the amber color, and your clears look... well.....clear.

"If you get the corners from e-bay how they turn out."

you mean you want me to let u know how they turn out, right? Will do. Auction ends in about 6 days...so got a little while. It's pretty easy to swap out, right? The bulbs just twist out? Thanks man.

i may go to homedepot and get what others have been recommending "rustoleum silver high temp" spray paint and just lightly put a coat or two on the bulbs in there now. Everyone that's done it says good results, so may as well give it a shot...worth the $3 instead of the $25 for the pair of bulbs...

i'll try it and let u know how it goes.

GDawg, I have aftermarket blinkers too.. I think the're the same brand as the ones you bidding on...
I got them from a friend of mine who had them on his 94 c220, I used them for a few months but now I put them back in their boxes and went back to OEM... I'm thinkng of getting OEM ambers instead (like the ones in the other thread)
To tell you the truth though, aftermarkets fit relatively OK, but only OEM fits perfect...

click the link to see how they look installed on my c280...

thats not bad at all. once i get them, i'll give 'em a shot...for $28, can't go wrong :p

i'm assuming if others got good ones, this seller is pretty good at getting decent stuff out there instead of the ones that don't fit at all...so cross my fingers.

OEM Ambers? Aren't those the ones we have on our cars now? Or different? I looked at the other ones, but I can't see a difference, or am I looking at it wrong?

I'm pretty sure they are. The crystal clears are too "clear" for my taste...i rather have the regular clear corners.

IMO, crystal clears are too clear and seem to conflict with the headlight housings. even regular clear corners seem to do so but it is still the lesser of two evils kind of deal
