Cool compressor oil

I am changing the receiver/dryer on my C180 (1996) model. I am then going to regas the system and hopefully enjoy cold air again!

Does anyone know if I have to add more compressor oil, or is there enough in the system. Where does it end up when the system is off (in the compressor?).

The reason i am replacing the dryer is that the glass cracked and the gas has bubbled out - but the oil hasn't leaked out, so what should I do???

Thanks all...

well after you install the new receiver direr, pump all the air out of the system and make sure there are no leaks, first put fresh oil into the system, followed by the R134a gas, and finally put some leak sealer for pease of mind... that's what I did when I replaced the condencer, and that's what I plan to do again when I replace my own receiver drier with a cracked glass

I sure hope you have a vacuum pump to get all the air out of the a/c system. Because if not will be seeing you soon.

I am going to get a pro in to vacuum out air and recharge with new R134. Just wanted to know if more oil needs to be added - I guess that I probably should add some more to the system
