Answer to middle or side vents not blowing cold air.
Had the problem intermittently for quite awhile. Pain in the butt, but normally it did blow from all vents sooner or later.
I took it into a local shop who were doing recharge, cleaning the blower cage, and installing the cabin filter (I supplied it) for $12.50.....
After the check and recharge, it works like a charm now.
Had a Toyota 4 runner with the same problem and the recharge did the same thing.
So, the long and the short of it is, get the system checked and charged.
