2ndary Air Injection Malfunction?
Hey, I had the CEL come on the other day, but the car still appears to run fine. I took it down to a shop today, and it was analyzed as two codes. One was a secondary Air Injection System malfunction, and the other was a cylinder 4 misfire. I have a feeling I just need to do a plug job on it to fix that misfire, but does anyone know what that Air Injection garbage is all about? Thanks. On a sidenote: I had heard that the straight-six uses two plugs per cylinder for a better burn.. Is this true? and if so, what's the procedure for changing them?

No, its the N/A straight six, a C280 sports. I read up and saw its an emissions function, but I still have no idea what it does or why its malfunctioning. Also, do we just pull the plugs wires off? I tried and the little plastic knob dealy snapped off. Yay.

The cel was for your smog pump. Send me an email and I will show you some creative tricks into tricking the car into thinking it is there and working. Or you could just buy a new one.... As for changing the plugs, Yes you do just pull up on the connector and the coils. Be carefull with the wires that connect to the coils, they are usually brittle. Mercedes designed the engine wire harness without taking heat into consideration. Usual w202 prob. And no the inline 6 only has one plug per cylinder.
