squeeky

hey all,
When I push my car up and down from the fender up front...it goes "squeeky squeeky"....what can that be? Shocks, struts? I've had the bushings and lower control arm replaced about a year ago...so I don't think that's them. Haven't changed my shocks yet for the life of the car or struts...what do you think?

thanky!

Its most likely the sway bar bushings.
You can remove them and put wheel bearing grease on the inside them to keep the fro squeaking.

Try it what do you have to loose.

Would you mind writing some simple instructions on how to do this? I'm assuming I have to jack up my car and such, yes?

Thanks!

I asked my SA today about it when I had the ML in. He said 9 out of 10 times when it makes that noise (he described it to me pretty well), it is probably the lower ball joints. My right one is wearing out, but says to replace in pairs. Quoted me around $400 for the front lower ball joints...is this a good price?

Ah, gotcha. I'll tell them to check into that when I'm in ('bout two weeks). I'll report back then and see what they say.

They checked out the car and they couldn't reproduce the problem or find anything worn out excessively that would produce the problem. Lower right ball joint is having a little play, but can wait till next service. Quoted $325 for the front ball joints.

So we'll see next time....but the squeek only comes once in a while, not all the time and of course it wasn't going to reproduce the sound today at the dealer
