Fuel Sending Unit leak C220 1996 (W202)
This post is for a C220 1996 (W202).
It looks like the fuel sending unit on the passenger side has developed a small leak around the metal bolt (picture attached).
MB part # of the fuel sending unit currently installed: 2024700641 (VDO Part #: 221.834/002/003)
Here are my questions:
1. Does the entire fuel sending unit need to be replaced or is there a separate gasket under the metal bolt where the leak developed (see the picture)
2. If the entire sending unit needs to be replaced, does someone have the part number for the special MB removal tool that is required for the job? Also, is there an updated part # for the replacement fuel sending unit?
3. Have there been any recalls about this? I saw that there were recalls for the fuel sending units on the E series MB vehicles.
