Looking at an '00 C230K Sport

Any important issues to be aware of with C230K's, especially the 2000 MY? Have they been known to have electrical or mechanical failures between the mileages 50000 km and 75000 km? This is my first time looking at a Benz and I'm not familiar with the brand at all yet. What exactly did the Sport Pkg add over the classic and elegance models?

2000 was the last year for the W 202 Body style.
I like them much better than the new W 203.
Bought mine with 46 k kilos & now have 78 K kilos.
No problems at all........love it!
The sport package gives you a little nicer trim, as far as I know. Mine is a Classic ( that's okay, it was de-badged the second day I owned it anyway ).
As usual, get a good M-B mechanic to check it out,.....best $ 100.00 you'll ever spend.

I'm shopping for one myself. I posted a thread not too long ago [https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...threadid=62521] and got some good info. IMO, the Sport is the way to go: 16" 6 spoke wheels (vs. 15" 8 holes), two-tone seats and steering wheel, white guages, carbon fibre trim in place of wood. Next to a sport, a 230K looks like your mother's car............................................... .............................................

I have a 2000 C230K SE with 39K miles and it runs very well. No problems at all. Pick up one and I bet you won't regret it. The Sport Package is a must in my opinion. It gives the car a much better look. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah. Get the Sport package, which will give you some 16" FUGLY wheels.

bimmaboy, the pics are from a 230K Sport I saw on ebay[http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEBWA%3AIT], same interior as my 280 Sport, except for the climate controls, which are nicer in mine. I've hade mine for a year and it's been flawless (I want an identical 2000 230K Sport next, for the gas mileage). hey meanie, what do mean the wheels are "fugly"?

I've also been looking at a C280 Sport, I like the idea of a V6 plus the finish of the climate controls seem to be a lot nicer as well. Just a question though, I've attached an image of the dash of this C280... what are the functions of the buttons I've highlighted? Also I noticed that one is missing... would that have been for a security system, meaning this particular car doesn't have one?

The car has warranty until the end of April, 2004. Since I'm buying used do I have the option of putting extended warranty on it from Mercedes-Benz? The car is not being purchased from a MB dealership.

L to R: Electronic Stability Control off, rear headrests down, power window lock, and the missing button disarms the alarm when vehicle is being towed. I'm surprised the vehicle is even available w/out alarm, but that would account for the missing switch. You have the heated seats that my 280 is missing, though. Here's the full array of switches, again from an ebay C230K:

So does that mean this C280 does not have an alarm altogether or is it just that the disabling of the alarm (when being towed) feature is missing?

Also, any idea about the purchasing of extendible warranty?
Thanks
