C230 Air Volume Control Switch Function
When I first got my 2000 C230, the first position of the air volume control switch would not turn on the fan. I think it just allowed air to move into the vehicle while in motion. When in this position, the "Economy Mode" light was off.
Lately when I turn the switch to that position, I can feel a small flow of air and the "Economy Mode" light come on.
What is the proper function in this first position?

Interesting that yesterday when I turned the blower switch to the first setting, the red "Economy Mode (EC)" light did not come on. Sometimes the light comes on in the first setting and sometimes it doesn't. Weird.
