i have no idea how it happened i was driving and the two metal clips which hold the mirror collapsed and then it started hanging..

does any one have any idea what to do in this ordeal? any experiences etc???

also the two plastic parts which are on both sides and metal piece in the middle is broken. SO the two plastic pieces which hold the metal piece are broken.

do you mean the rearview in the cabin of the car or one of the side mirrors? I'm asking because some people refer to the side mirrors as rearview as well.

If it's the inside, try calling your local MB dealer and see how much it costs, best way to find out. Ask for the part number as well so if you want to replace it yourself, you can order it from somewhere else than the dealer cuz usually the dealer is more expensive.
