when my battery light came on in my 1998 c230 and asked my mechanic what the issues were and so forth I learned they would charge $150.00 to put the new alternator in and starting at $250 to $900 for the new replacement alternator. This was just too much and this guy does great work but I needed an alternative. I learned through the forum about alternatives .. buying a used part - which I did- have it tested free at Auto Zone- I did this too- find a mechanic that will install it - total price ? $ 120.00!!!! Part, labor, out the door. Thank you !!!!
