Brake pad wear sensor

I need to replace the front brake pad wear sensors. The pads are basically new, but I got some cheap sensors on Ebay, which failed, for the second time. Buy cheap, get cheap.
I watched a YouTube video about a DIY brake job, and from the video, it appears the sensors can be accessed quite easily without dropping the caliper. Does anyone know if this is correct? It will save a lot of time, if it can be done.
