Wiper on Wash only

Wiper on Wash only
2006 C280. This morning it was raining. When I started the car the rain sensor did don start the wipers. I turn the switch to constant slow and fast but did not work. I pressed the windshield washer and the wiper worked on that mode. What could it be.
Probably not a furs, unless there is more than one fuse for e washer and the wiper mode. The motor is getting power and is moving the wipers on washing mode. COuld it be a relay? How do I check the relay without going for a diagnostic at the dealership?
