Michelin Pilot Spt

Michelin Pilot Sport! Great and quiet ride- I have them as my winter tires on my stock rims- they're great.

I have had very good luck with the Continental CH95 both on my first W202 and on my E39 (528i) as far as milage goes.

I got over 40K miles on my E39, and would have easaly gone over 40K with my first W202, if I hadn't traded it. My second W202 came with Michelin which hardly lasted 20k. I replaced them with CH95's.

I currently have CH95's on my w202, good tire IMO so far. I have about 20k on them and about half the tread is gone.

On the W220 we have, not so great...ride is OK, noise is horrible on the highway and wear is so so. We have 31k on the w220 and it's in need of replacements very very soon...probably end of summer time it can make it.

We're looking at the Dunlop SP5000's which I hear are great all seasons, even performs in Winter.

Not that bad of a price either, about $94/$95 a tire online so it's relatively a good deal.

Good luck!

For the very short time they lasted I loved them. My mom has the PS2s on her Crossfire. Hopefully those will last a little longer.

I'm not a fan of Michelin's cause I think they're overpriced. I have Yokohama YK240's on mine. They're H rated and they're awesome. I would avoid Goodyear.

I have the new Toyo Proxes 4's and they have been great, especially once I upped the tire pressure to a little beyond factory recommendation. I had Michelin XGT H4's prior, and the Toyos definitely provide a better ride and are sticky too.

I have not had a good experience with the Continentals. I so far two tires went out of balance after 6 months of driving. My treadwear was also pretty bad. I've replaced one because it went out of round. Just recently, I took the car into to Discount Tires and had them warranty reimburse me for one tire because it showed signs of tread separation, road hazard reimburse me for another tire due to gashes in the tread to the belt, and prorate two tires for premature wear.

I just replaced them with Yokohamas in 215/60R 15, rather than 205/60R 15. Looks and handles a lot better. The Yokes are around 80 a piece. Quite reasonable.

There are not a lot of choices for these particular sizes. I read in another forum that there is a problem with Continentals that are made in the USA. The ones made in Germany are fine and do not suffer from these problems. Anyone remember the Continental SUV tire recall?

the conti's on our S-Class are almost gone...well, the outer treads are almost down to the wear bars. The insides are still ok, but not far off either.

The car only has 32k miles on it and these tires need to be replaced by fall time, definately before winter. What kind of warranty does Conti have on their tires for tread life and wear?

Thanks man

Well, the conti's have a workmanship warranty that Discount tire honored, but the treadlife warranty (40,000 miles) is taken care of by Discount Tires - part of their selling point as a high volume tire dealer. I like the look and ride of the Conti's when they work, but we went through them pretty quickly. It's my wife's car, she must be doing some secret street racing on the side :p
