Mercedes-Benz C180 Esprit ATP Tour 1998
Cannot drive above 3500 rpm
Hello everyone ,
I have a Mercedes C180 W202 1998 Esprit ATP Tour , gasoline , 5-speed manual gearbox .
The problem is , when i'm cruising on 5th gear at 120 km per hour , the throttle is floored and the car cannot go above 3500 rpm .
And obviously the car cannot go above 115-120 km per hour.
It's like it's reached the top speed.
I don't know if the problem persists on lower gears , i usually change gears at around 2500 rpm.
What could be the problem ?
Thank you

If that doesn't work, disconnect o2 Sensor.
If any of those fixes the problem then you might have less trouble finding what is causing it.

Is the engine still running smoothly at top speed?
My suspicion is that there is inadequate fuel delivery, so check fuel pressure and delivery also if you can find a spec for the latter.
