2000 C280 CD Changer Install (MC3198)
would like this to post this experience so that others may be inspired to
upgrade / install their CD Changer
I confirmed that the car was pre-wired with the 2 necessary cables (fiber/power)
I found them just hanging down above the rear passenger trunk area, had to move
them over a bit so that they would reach the changer
My first attempt failed in that the changer displayed a message...No Magazine,
but it was there, but it would not eject, removed the entire unit and took it apart
I could not extract the magazine with any power. I watched several Youtube video's on
how to's. I did however find some video's on maintenance. and did re-grease all of
the moving parts (lithium grease). Put everything back together, no extra or missing
screws, a goof day for me.
Today, hooked up the power only to the unit, and pushed the eject button while
pushing on the magazine, after 5-6 attempts it popped out. I then cleaned
the inside, blew out any dust with a hair dryer, and now reattached the unit
(fiber/power), left the magazine out, the radio asked for the code, I obliged and
all seemed OK. Touched CD and then inserted the magazize with 2 cd's installed
Hit track 1 and.... it all worked
