2000 C280 Sport
Need Quick help on Purchase!
Hi everyone! I'm new to the board! I'm about to purchase a 2000 C230 Sport with 119K miles for 11,000. Is this fair price? What are the problems commonly associated with this car at this mileage? Does anyone on this board have the same car with that much miles that can give me a few tips. I have always wanted a mercedes at a price I can afford so this will be my first. I have always had a japanese car and my last was an ES300 97 model, will this car last me for another 5 years without huge repair bills? which is more reliable the C230 or C280? Sorry for the multiple questions, any advice is greatly appreciated!

Not sure exactly what options you have, whether it's private party or dealership, fair/good/excellent condition, etc., but here's a basic KBB value. According to it $11,000 seems fair.
I'm not familiar enough w/ the 2000 sport edition to comment on reliability. Personally, I would never purchase a car with 120,000 miles on it. I got my '98 C230 w/ 47,500 miles for under $13k. Granted, it's not a sport edition, but it works for me.
Kelley Blue Book Value:
2000 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C230 Sedan 4D
Engine: 4-Cyl. Supercharged
Trans: Automatic
Drive: Rear Wheel Drive
Mileage: 119,000
Equipment
Slip Control
Sport Pkg
Air Conditioning
Power Steering
Power Windows
Power Door Locks
Telescoping Wheel
Cruise Control
AM/FM Stereo
Cassette
Dual Front Air Bags
Front Side Air Bags
ABS (4-Wheel)
Leather
Power Seat
Moon Roof
Alloy Wheels
Consumer Rated Condition: Excellent
"Excellent" condition means that the vehicle looks great, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning. It should pass a smog inspection. The engine compartment should be clean, with no fluid leaks. The paint is glossy and the body and interior are free of any wear or visible defects. There is no rust. The tires are the proper size and match and are new or nearly new. A clean title history is assumed. This is an exceptional vehicle.

Miles should not matter as long as the service records are upd to date and there is documentation of the service. You could put another 200,000 miles and still be in good shape. Always get a per purchase inspection done by a reptuble shop that has experiance with MB.
