W202 Fuel tank Levels issue

I have a 1995 mercedes c class, the car will not start when the fuel tank is half full. the saddle fuel tank is full on one side, and the fuel gauge indicates half full. You add few liters and then it is ok. fuel pump is ok, fuel guage is ok. Changed the fuel tank with a good condition used one, but it turned out to have the same problem. I doubt this second fuel tank has exactly the same problem?? anything need to be done during installation of the tank. how does the fuel get transfered from one side of the tank to the other side???? I appreciate any help on this issue. The car doesnt idle in stable manner . Please help

Welcome Percyfranc,

Just a simple shot at this....Have you checked the fuel filter and /or ever replaced it whe you replaced the tank?
(located ds underside, just in front of the rear ds wheel (under a cover))

edit:
I recall reading....
The C-class has only has a pump on the right side of the tank. It requires a siphoning tube in the sending unit that's inside the left side of the tank to transport fuel to the right side where the pump is located. If this tube is clogged, or cracked, the fuel in the left side of the tank will stay there as the right side tank fuel is used, thus fuel starvation even though your gauge shows half of a tank of gas remaining.
Remove the left sending unit, disassemble the siphoning tube, and clean all the parts, or replace if broken. Re-assemble.
Also, this could be related to your situation.
