Hidden Radar? anyone with experience?

I'm looking for a good hidden/remote radar detector that I can install on my 280. I"m not a fan of the windshield mounted detectors because they get in the way of driving and mess up the flow of the interior with all those wires. I'm looking at schools in VA, so I need a good remote detector. Not to mention the added sex appeal of a hidden unit. First I hit the K40, but I don't have $2000 to drop on that. Then I saw the Beltronics BEL 975R. That looked pretty hot, but at $275, thats a little north of my price range. Then I found the Whistler DE-3400 which looks good for around $200. Anyone heard anything about it? Obviously the more you pay the better your performance, but I'm just looking for highway performance here. Anyone in this thread installed a hidden system in theirs? Thanks for the info- I'm just hoping to defend myself from tickets before I end up getting one.

It's kind afunny you mentioning the whole radar detector thing. We were pulled over yesterday in VA for having it mounted on the windshield, and it wasn't plugged in! I had my laptop plugged in instead. We were on the way to pick up a C220. The route I would recommend in the Valentine 1 with the PAssport Lasar jammer. The lasr jammer has a defect switch, such that you can control the jamming function.

I believe the PAssport 8500 can work directly with the lasar device. There are some possibilities with utilizing the V1 and making it unhidden. I

I was just in DC this weekend and I made it a point to read up on the law in case it had changed.

We stopped in MD and I removed the 8500 from the mount and put it in the trunk, since it's illegal in VA and DC to even have it... even if it's unplugged, if it's in reach of the driver or any of the passengers.

I'm looking for a permanent mounting solution for it too, at least some way to mount it and re-route the wiring, but for the times when I have to go down there, I'm glad that I can remove it and put it away.

Get the V1 or passport 8500 X50 its worth it. I need a radar jammer, with a switch to turn it off and on pretty easily. Laser hits me going 90mph, jammer sends an error while my x50 is going off, I slow down and turno off the jammer
