1997 C200 5 speed manual
Final drive lubrication
Battling to find the correct oil spec for my 1997 W202 C200. My Haynes Manual specifies 85w90 or 90w hypoid, which is GL5 these days, however, I cannot find a 85w90 or a 90, only 80w90 or 80w140. Are those grades acceptable?

Most of the questions and solutions on this forum are for Eu and NA spec's vehicles. You have a Japanese market vehicle that has the M111 engine.
If it doesnt show up on that list then you can either source your quiry in the Japanese market or use what's recommended in the links provided for your motor.
The motors are pretty much all the same except perhaps emission control regulations that may differ from country to country.

I don't think that there is much relevance to my question in the engine type, since it relates to the lubricant for the final drive (differential).
