Removing radio

Hi all,

Just got myself a C200 '96 Elegance (w202) I believe. LCD climate control light is out, Have I gotta remove the radio before taking off the front wood panel ? Will this affect the radio i.e. recoding necessary or resetting ? Once the panel is removed will I be able to see bulbs easily on unit. Please tell me they're easy to replace. Don't really wanna fork out a coupla hundred on a new climate control unit. Thanks.

when i had a 99 w202 i was able to use the radio keys (that you get from the dealer to remove the radio) to remove the climate control. i didnt have to remove any wood panels and the replacement of the bulb in the back of the climate control was real easy. i didnt have to reset any codes or anything like that.

heres what they look like...

and heres a link to them on ebay...

yes you can. if you dont want to buy the tools, just get a small swiss army knife. make sure the blunt end faces the inside of the radio or climate control. you gotta apply pressure to the latch to unhook it from the center console. do it on both sides and it should just slide out.
