I have a 99 c280 with a dead fob. I’d like to tow it, but I cannot shift it out of park. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos on the shift lock release, but could not find one for my model. I took the shift console apart and cannot find anything to release the shift lock. Is anyone aware if and where the shift lock is on a 99 c280?

Yeah I have the same shifter setup as the person who started that thread. There didn't appear to be a resolution. I showed pictures of it to my local mercedes dealership shop foreman and he couldn't tell where it was either.
First one I've seen like this. Was that component replaced in past?
For you to be in this limp mode situ, what's the history to this point?
Have you scanned for codes? There has to be codes for you to be locked out?
No, that is all original. The reason I cannot shift is because my key fob went dead (no red light). Now mercedes requires you to bring your car into the dealership to get a replacement fob (which I find ridiculous. For my own protection they say, blah blah). So I'm trying to shift it out of park so I can tow it there in my truck.
Does anyone know if there is a shift lock release on a 98 clk320? The car (and FOB) were stolen. Got the car back, but need to move it into the garage w/o the fob.
