HELP – KEY WON'T TURN IGNITION 97 C230
Hello everyone,
I could really use a little help and guidance… The key will not turn in my ignition for a 1997 C230… I've been using the valet key for the past couple of years because they ignition key broke off the Square black infrared remote which contains the infrared button..
Recently the key is been giving me problems but I jiggled it and the ignition And it would turn and start the car… However, last time I purchased gas I turned the car off. It seemed to get stuck in So I played with it and pull it out, but now the ignition will not turn And the steering wheel is locked with no play in the steering column
I did some research on the board were suggesting new tumbler but am unable to put the key in the number one position…
The other optional that has been suggested is to purchase a new key from the dealer at approximately $300 but I'm hesitant to do that because the key may not work because of the faulty tumbler
I'm pretty handy and I see on eBay There are sellers with the the complete steering column lock with the key, but I've been unable to find any information on how to remove and replace
I'm not working due to the pandemic and I like to keep the cost is minimal as possible, but I do need the car
I could really use some friendly help And suggestions
