M111 Timing Chain Replacement Question
With the cams 'pinned' at ~20 degrees ATDC, can you rotate the crankshaft through the full rotations necessary to feed a new timing chain through without hitting the valves? I've searched and searched and I've found several people asking the question with no response given, and also several examples of people stating that they've replaced their timing chains, but no discussion on the specific steps involved. My Bentley manual doesn't say a word about replacing the chain. For anyone that has done this, can you recommend a chain tool to properly split the old one and crimp the new one in place? The lack of information on this is amazing considering how many of these cars MBZ sold, and how many would've needed this service by now.
Thank you,
Rick
