Hi people,

New member here with a year 2000 C230K that has 64K on it.
Check engine light has been on for some time. Periodically it runs very rough. If I shut off the car and restart the problem will go away for a while. Recently the check engine light started flashing so I guess the issue has become critical.
Had the auto supply store look at codes and got P0170, Po130, P0301, P0302, P0300, P0304.
I have replaced the 4 spark plugs. Thinking about putting in a shot of injector cleaner.
Taking the approach of replacing the easier and cheaper stuff first unless there is a clear culprit here.
Contenders seem to be the MAF, the two O2 sensors, and possible air leak.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

Your car is a W202, not a W203. This thread might get moved by the mods FYI.

What's the mileage on the car?

Typically I find that the ignition coils fail before the spark plugs. Have you replaced those? They're not terribly expensive. However, those would only take care of P0301 P0302 P0303 P0304. I suspect these aren't the culprit in your situation, but they will begin to fail at higher mileages.

Best to change 1 set of parts at a time, as probably only 1 faulty component is causing most if not all of the problems. I'd probably start with looking for some sort of vacuum leak, since P0170 is a fuel trim malfunction. I once had that error (yes, I have a different engine) and the problem was caused by cracks in the vacuum lines (secondary air injection) which were then throwing off the air/fuel ratio.

Thanks for responding Slammer111.

I'll search for a vacuum leak and consider replacing the coils.

Cheers

Looks like I put in the wrong plugs even though listed on AutoZone for this car. I have also replaced the two coils.

The car still has periodic rough engine and sluggish but am hoping the Bosch FR-7-KTC will do the trick.
