I.d.l.e.

hello all, 95 C220, I have a question . what is the idle speed should be when the car is in park and in "D" ? in park the climate control reads between 7.6 and 7.8 in "D" it reads 6.1 . the check engine light is on and I think it has something to do with it. thanks a lot....

idle should be in the 600 - 800 rpm range. If the car is serging at idle or if it is starting rough I would say the MAS is an issue. Take it to auto zone and get a odbcII reading. The MAS is the root of a lot of performance issues.

I think my car has a MAS problem? How much does that generally cost to have fixed/replaced?

This can cost any where from 200 - 400 for the part. Search on line for the part before you go to hte stealership. This is a real easy fix and should take you about 15 - 20 minutes to make the change. The stealership wanted to charge two hours labor and 400 for the part I got the part for 275 and did the change my self. The change involves unsnapping two clamps and loosening a hose clamp. You then remove the old MAS and replace it with the new one and reverse the procedure. If you send me a pic from under your hood I can tell you where it is located.
