Hi all,
I am new to this forum and new to MBs in general. I have a 94 C280, and noticed today that if I drive it any more than 15 miles or so, it starts running rough. Even in neutral or park it'll idle rough. Once it the roughness starts it doesn't get any worse, but it causes terrible idling and a huge loss of power. I've picked up a new fuel filter to start with, but not sure where it is to change it? Do you all think that could be the problem?
Thanks a lot in advance, Adam.

have you replaced your head gasket..... those models all have faulty head gaskets... make sure you get the newly designed one from mercedes... they redesigned the head gasket so it wont mess up anymore....

I have the same problem with a 95 C280. When I turned off the ignition andturned it back on the problem disappeared. The dealer says I have a wiring harness shorting out and will cost 1,500 to replace. What do you suggest? Can i get it done cheaper. I am in Richmond, VA

Most (better) dealers will replace the wiring harness [B]free of charge under a "goodwill" policy. It is ultimately up to the dealership and the service manager. This was a very common problem and I had mine done on my C280 at 80k miles.

i actually have two quick questions for you guys... first of all was it tough to replace the fuel filter and is there anywhere i could get instructions on how to do so, also how much did teh part cost? secondly if that doesnt work for me i am thinking about going to the dealer and getting this pesky wiring harness figured out... what exactly should i tell them in order to try and get it done free under their "goodwill"
