'98 C280 Sport // Oil Leak--???
I've got a 1998 C280 Sport (stock except for AMG C43 wheels) with 133,000 miles on it. I'm now leaking oil pretty steadily, have had to put in 2 additional quarts since oil change 3,000 miles ago.
I asked my mechanic to look into the leak but he could not locate its origin. He said my only recourse may be to have the engine steam cleaned first, then bring it to his shop so he could take a look. He also said if the leak is behind the engine it will cost me a several hours of labor to even get to it.
I've not got the funds for all of that---any other courses of action you can suggest? Thank you.

Leaking Oil
T!!!!!!! If your leaking oil that bad then your mechanic should have found the leak. Normally most shops will clean off your engine to trace a leak......we do it all the time. It's best not to jump the gun on this one until the leak is located. If you or your mechanic dicovers that the leak is coming from a place that might cost you a bit of money and you cant afford to fix it right away, I would suggest that you do not drive the car until then.
