Rear lower outer bushing on carrier tool (substitute)

Greetings - I'm do a rear end rebuild and the bushing in the carrier (WIS language) / knuckle was really worn, and came out but with a lot of damage.

I tried putting the new bushing in, but it looks like it warped it - I'm using the standard heavy duty C-clamp type kits.

This particular bushing has an odd shape to it, because if you push in too much to the center it will damage it, and the lip is kind of narrow for a 32 mm socket which is the biggest I have, to get a real good bite.

The tool you are supposed to use is this:

And the shape of the bushing is this:

The tool is about $130 bucks, which I suppose isn't the end of the world because I believe I can also use this on my w220 - but just curious if anyone used a more common tool or method to get this in cleanly. Thanks!

I'd just buy the tool. It makes installing those bushings easy as pie.

Thanks - I came to the same conclusion, but luckily found a cheaper one in the UK, that will get here faster (the 140 was in Latvia and was going to take forever.)

I also ordered the VEVOR kit, looks like S-Prihady had some success with it in his very good thread in the w212 forum.
