Cracked Headlight

I'm driving out to New Braunfels yesterday, on business, and I remember seeing what appeared to be a large rock coming at my car and it hit the front of my car and I didn't notice anything wrong when I reached my destination. I don't even remeber hearing it hit my car. Hell it may not have even been that rock at all that broke the head light. Anyway, I know these damn headlights from 94-97, I beleive, are expensive as ****, like $300. Anyone got any suggestions? I want to avoid the Stealership on this one if I can.

One other thing. There's people on e-bay selling the LENSES only and I'm wondering if it's ok to buy these lenses or are they cheap imitation POS parts???

Unfortunately I have the 94-96 model where you have to get the entire assembloy. I already ordered it from Adsit Company for $268 and I'm gonna have an indepedent shop do the work on it so I don't get charged an arm and a leg on labor. All in all it will cost me probably a little over $300 to get the whole thing done, which is a hell of a lot better than $650+ at the STEALERSHIP!

Yep, It's $300 and change. I had the exact thing happen to me and got the
insurance company to pay. The only difference for me, the object hit the
grill and rolled to the hood then bounced over the windshield and roof of car.
I think it was $1000 in damage. If seen that part on overnightautoparts.com for $285. Good luck with it.

acutally, the lens part is available for 94-96 w202s. I also have a slightly cracked right lens and dealer said that the entire assembly had to be replaced. I declined as it was only a small crack.

Went to my independent MB dealer and they said that a company just put the lens part available for 94-96 w202s. I don't have the part number here at work, it's on my comp at home. if you or anyone is interested in the part number, let me know and i'll post it.

Yeah the thing about that lens is that you have to take apart the top of the radiator and a bunch of other trim anyway b/c there's a hidden phillips head screw on the top portion of the housing that alos holds the lens in place. The clips aren't the only thing so it's not as easy as it looks.
