Question about factory cd changer

Hello,

I am wondering whether anyone have any experience or knowledge in regard on whether it is possible to use factory cd-changer with 3rd party Car Audio unit (i.e. Pioneer). My original becker unit is broken, and I want to know whether I need to get another becker unit or I can change it to any other brands.

Thanks in advance.

Don't bother with the factory changer, you can get a new radio and CD changer aftermarket much cheaper than you can get your original radio replaced.

If you decide to keep the changer and look for a new becker radio, try ebay. They always sell them on there.

Depending on the year, I am willing to bet that an alpine head unit would work. The changers are made by alpine in the 94 to 98 models. I have an alpine changer in mine that works with an adapter for the wiring. So, I would venture to say that an alpine head unit would work, as long as it does not have an internal amp. Just a guess, however, worth a try. I have an older Alpine head unit that would work with the changer I have. It has a built in amp though.

Both Becker and Alpine HU's can be found pretty easily on eBay.

I have one for you.

I have a 99 C280 with the CD changer which is rarely used.

If you want the genuine MB changer, let me know. I've been looking at XM and wouldn't mind parting with mine.

Thanks,
