2006 C Class Lineup
We all know the C350 is official with swirling rumours of the C230 losing its 189HP engine and gaining 202HP with also the rumours of a C280 hitting the US and Canadian shores. Anybody got some info on these? If the C230 will be getting a new engine with 202HP it will surely be the best value out there compared to the '05 and its 189HP. The C350 and its 268HP has already been rumoured to be overpriced when compared to others but we'll have to see and the C280, don't know the HP and havent seen any info on the '06 C230 and C280 many places when doing a Google search. Just relevant 2006 C350 info. Any info on the 2006 MB C Class lineup for Canada and US would be great.
"From spring 2005 the newly developed, powerful six-cylinder engines will also be available for the C-Class, E-Class and SLK-Class. These new power units better their predecessors by up to 32 percent in output and up to 27 percent in torque. With four completely new V6 engines, the C-Class takes a clear lead in its market segment where output and torque are concerned. Of the new engines, three are V6 petrol units with 150 kW/204 hp (C 230), 170 kW/231 hp (C 280) and 200 kW/272 hp (C 350). The C 320 CDI with the state-of-the-art V6 diesel engine (165 kW/224 hp) also joins the line-up."

The EPA will take the mustard off the hot dog. Plan on about 10 to 20 % less horsepower in the North American market. The low value of the dollar is having a significant impact on DaimlerChrysler. They will be looking for even greater price increases than the ones already announced, and will be looking for ways to cut manufacturing costs for the North American market.
Eat, Drink, and be Merry, $12,000 bought a top of the line MB in the 70's.

Yea, I'd have a hard time trading in that whistling sound
Speaking of power... I think it's well balanced for what it is (sure more is always nicer), but I think car companies are rising the HP bar too high and so darn quick... I remember having a 170HP car in the 90s and being the sh*t.
By the way, I got the backend to break loose in a turn on the way home last night. Boy that was scarry! I was turning right in 2nd gear (tiptronic) at about 3K and punched it half way around the turn.... backend swings around... ESP kicks in before I could even counter stear. NICE! Some ricer in an Integra behind me tried racing me after that, he must have thought I was showing off or something. Thank god for ESP cause if I would have continued to slide over it would have been into another lane with other cars.
I'd sure like to play with that on an empty road sometime, and with ESP off.
