I would never put a AMG badge in my car if its not a real AMG. that like wearing a fake rolex and showing everyone that its real, yes to people that dont have one they might think its real but if a guy that knows his watches or cars you are gonna get clowned for even wearing that thing. my advice take the AMG badge off! maybe next car you buy you should get the real thing!

Just about every damn Mercedes out here has an AMG on the back. As a result, I gave up on letting it bother me. I don't give a crap about people slapping on an AMG badge as long as they're not completley re-badging the thing.

Lets just hope they know what they're driving

LOL now this thread has everything! It had all the mass debaters before hand and now you can add to the list a moron that resurrects the thread just to cause trouble and another clueless self righteous wannabe telling people to grow up. I wonder if the mods are just as entertained as everyone else (hint).

Whats wrong with putting AMG at the back. If he is a poser, he would have debadged and put C32 or C55 instead.
The real posers are people who drive a W202 and put a C32 Kompressor at the back. Or a BMW with a AMG badge. etc
Depends on how you look at it, it can mean he has got AMG brand of kits installed in his car.

By the way, that car is niceeeeeeeeee.

The AMG badge may be just a badge to some but to to others, the AMG name means a lot more to than that. There is is a clear difference between an AMG and non-AMG Mercedes. It isn't just the body kit or the wheels and it isn't even the suspension or the exhaust (And its certainly not the AMG trim on the inside!). While each of those add to the AMG name, the engine is what makes the machine. Each AMG engine is handbuilt by one master technician from beginning to end and the cars are manufactured under the strictest tolerances compared to any other Mercedes model (aside from the Maybach). All Mercedes enthusiasts take pride in this craftmanship and thats why some are protective of it.

Again, I don't really care anymore because I see it all the time but it is what it is. Bottom line is that the badge doesn't make it an AMG.

No matter which Mercedes you own, be proud of it. Its one of the best cars available.

Stop being little kids about it. jeeze. Just get over it. It's just a badge, get over it. Didn't any of your mothers tell you that "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?".

Common guys, I can understand if you say you don't like a car, but don't insult ppl or call them posers. That's just wrong.

How about a compromise? For those that replicate an AMG car, minus the engine swap, how about an "AMGlite" badge?
I couldn't have said it better

Fine, you're not a poser if you add a badge that was never intended to be there in the first place.

As a matter of fact, do what you want as long as you know what you're driving bcause it is your car, right?
Just remember this:
No matter what AMG parts you add, it will never be an AMG Mecedes-Benz

It's silly how you guys with AMG-tuned cars defend yourself and your pride. I would never think that one little badge would create so much disturbance in the "AMG-tuned" community. Oh yes, I forgot....you guys paid $20K+ more for a bigger engine and a badge.

Fine.

But yeah, I don't see this much b1tching about ppl with brabus, carlsson lorinser...etc emblems on their cars.

It's just a matter of looks.

Damn straight we did.

So based on your response, you should also go buy a $20 Timex at Rite-aid and slap on a Rolex name plate. After all, its the same thing, right?

Brabus, Carlsson and Lorinser don't hand-build their engines and assemble their cars do they? Last time I checked, those are aftermarket tuners.

As far as I'm concerned, if you buy Carlsson wheels you can cover your entire car with Carlsson badges.

AMG don't even make their wheels, they just stamp their name into them.

If you got the money, go ahead and spend that extra $20K+ on a bigger engine and a badge. Some of us don't have that luxury so we elect to pay alot less and yet have the same looks and driving excitement. However, if I choose to pay $15 for that badge, that's one down and one to go already.

I do have a $20 timex watch from K-mart. It does its job just as well as a $20K rolex. But who's going to look so closely to be able to know the difference? Same thing goes with a C230/240/320 with AMG body kits, exhaust, rims, and of course...a AMG badge in the rear. Who's going to stop me and open the hood just to verify it if it's a real AMG or not.

So now we are gonna talk about how involved the tuner is? Brabus offers complete makeovers for their cars which I would say makes the car a completely diferent car such as the CV8.

I'll have my opinion and you'll have yours, I'm not gonna debate on whether the car deserves the badge or not. Just telling you guys to be more considerate of others.

Dion.

Again, you fail to grasp one thing: it does not matter how many AMG parts are in your car. Unless the car is built by AMG (and most importantly, has an AMG-tuned engine), it is not AMG. This etiquette was not imposed by me; nor do I care about what badges you slap on your car. I am just trying to communicate the message. To listen or not is up to you.

The general rule (not limited to AMG) says: a badge reflects only what you can not see (= the engine). Again, it was not invented by me. Try to digest it.
New to this forum...I've been reading this thread (because its quite entertaining) and like to interject on your point Vadim --- as you just stated "a badge reflects only what you can not see." You cannot see suspension, can you? So this simple statement would validate the placement of the badge, and nullify your argument.

If its a freeworld - why even bring up the etiquette. Its not like there's AMG police to pop the hood on every car with the badge...Have fun w/o all the hoopla

Just my two pennies.

Do whatever you want, I could not care less. If putting a badge of something your car is not reduces your level of insecurity - go right ahead! Why bring up etiquette? Just because it does exist. Do not confuse "free world" with "lumpenization", though, as it is the latter that results in the etiquette being generally discarded.
