Great Dealer Experience

With all of the horror stories of delayed deliveries and sorry service, I must put in a good word for a dealer in Texas. I special ordered a black c230k , C5 / CD changer from Garlyn Shelton Mercedes Benz located in the Central Texas town of Temple. (Temple is between Dallas and Austin on I35.) Not only did they beat the lowest price in Houston by $905.00 , their customer service was beyond excellent. I was given a 90 day ETA for delivery and it actually arrived at the dealership about a week early. Since I live in Galveston, some 265 miles away it was on the showroom floor for about a week awaiting my arrival , exactly 89 days from my order date. In addition, they had obtained the license plates and had them installed prior to my arrival. Ken Charlton was my sales person and he e-mailed or phoned me throughout the entire production, post prduction, shipping, arrival in Fl./ VPC process and even as they were unloading it off of the truck. It was really interesting to track the procuction / shipping process.

This dealship is first class in every respect but yet is laid back and not stuffy but making one comfortable in doing business with them. I felt they were honest, straightforward and efficient in their sales process. This is my 6th Benz and by far the best service I have encountered at any dealership to date.

Needless to say when I buy my next one I will again take the drive to Temple. If you should stop in, tell Ken that Ted said hello and you read my comments on this board.

I did not notice any C32's as I really wasn't in the market for one. There sure was a sweet S500 AMG on the showroom floor !

But to answer your question... the specs were - black, auto trans., C5 (which includes leather, bose audio, sunroof, auto wipers) and the CD changer. The price before TT&L was $29,765.31 and drive out was $31,625.31. No dealer in Southeast Texas would come close to matching their price. I think part of the reason is that they also sell the full GM line, BMW, Volvo, and a couple other lines that aid in the overall support of the dealership. Most MB Dealerships are stictly MB and can't afford to offer any discount due to their vast overhead cost.

I e-mailed every MB dealership in a 300 mi radius and this was the by far the best price that I was quoted. I made the drive put down my deposit and the rest is history. Again, they are great folks to deal with and I would suggest that anyone in Texas planning to purchase a MB let them give you a quote before you plunk down your $$$ !

I too was overly pleased with the MB Dealership in Temple. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't have a C230 now.

I ordered a new VW Passat from Garyln Shelton in Bryan, TX only because I could not live with the fact of paying MSRP for any car. The MB in Temple finally offered $800 under MSRP and I called up VW and canceled my order. (They already had someone going to the the port near Houston to pick up my new VW )

Temple MB was the only one who would give me any price below MSRP. (-$800) The only problem was that didn't have any in stock with the options I wanted. The sales person was wonderful to work with (like all MB sales reps should be)

I then spoke with my previous sales person from MB Houston North. He agreed to the same MSRP-$800. After a crazy paper chase, accusations of my bad credit (not true) and worries of a nice 15% APR I went to MB Houston Greenway and spoke with Mendel Cheng. He was a perfect sales person within three hours I was driving away in my new car without a worry in the world. No 15% APR or anything.

May God Bless MB of Temple and MB of Houston Greenway for I will go back to them to get my next MBs

Eric

I too delt with Mendel at Greenway MB. Mendel is a great guy. He tried his best to match the price but the only way he could do it was for me to order a CD changer from Auto Class and pay the guys in the shop to install it after the fact. I perfered to order the CD with the car so it would have the 4 yr warranty. His sales manager would not let him discount it any more than about $300.00 Mendel gave it his best anyway !
