is it possible to install the factory alarm system afterward?
hi.. i have a 2005 C230SS. I am in Canada and it doesn't come standard with the alarm system.. i am wondering if it is possible to buy the modules from the part department and install it myself... any hints and pointer?

Yes, it is completely possible. Go to the dealership and buy the parts, and install them. Depending on which system you install, you may need cutting of the headliner.

Oh by the way, since you will be installing new features as well as (probably) a new SAM, you will definitely need to reprogram the car. Whether you are capable of this or not I am not able to predict.

thanks for the info. I am pretty handy working around the vehicles.. but never worked on a MB before.. so pls excuse my stupid question..

i am really looking for a standard alarm.. a siren, shock sensor, tow sensor, making the panic button work. i know there is option for motion sensor and glass break sensor.. but i don't need that.

what is re-programming "SAM"?

has anyone done it before and done some posting around it?

That Steve guy has done it before, but I believe he also fitted the motion sensor. I don't think he has posted about it before, as he does it mainly for people who are interested in it.

yes I have...added the towing sensor and the interior motion sensor...if you don't have stardiagnose you will end up at the dealer to get the system programmed...
