Unhappy More help on climate control?

Hi all, I seem to not be able to turn off my fan so easily. I have to depress the "0" a couple of times (more than the fan bars indicate) just to get it low and then a couple of more times to zero it. I have a 2002 C320 (digital climate control std).

Any suggestions?

I've got a C240 so the controls are somewhat different, but I think I did read that the only way to shut off the digital system is to keep pressing the "down fan" until it's at zero. On the C230/240, you just spin the fan control knob to zero (whether you're in "auto" or not, this turns it off).

cab000, I've never had a need to turn the fan completely off, so I don't know how to compare yours to mine as a reference. But I will remember to do so tonight and report back.

whether you're in "auto" or not, this turns it off
I don't mean to hijack this thread but I noticed that pressing "auto" with the fan turned to "0" turns the system back on. It's weird that it will run even in the off position... ok, back to the question...

I found the same thing in the begining. The trick is, you have to wait apprx 1/2 sec between each push on the "0" button. If you do it too fast, the system will ignore some of the pushes. But if you do it right, 5 pushes should turn the whole system off.

Thumbs up Got it...

Thanks for everyone's replies. I realized that I can not be too quick pressing the "0" button...

On a side note - I realized the back seat fan somewhat controls the front as well; the front may just accomodate for the high setting on the back.

cab000, I pressed 0 until one bar on the fan graph remained, and the next push resulted in turning the fan off, with the "0" in the display. I didn't pay much attention to the speed between pushes. I did notice that you can't just hold the switch and watch it drop to zero... you have to push for each decrease.

yeah, thats d most stupid thing mb did to our digital aircon controls....just cnt figure it out y they didnt just put a "o" button just like in other models. Takes so much time to turn off the a/c. A case of over engineering again!
