Rear Antenna Amplifier????
Help me with this guys! Please ask ur dealer about this if u have time, as i have no dealer in my lonely island.
REAR ANTENNA AMPLIFIER for my C240.
1. What does it look like?
2. Where is it located?
3. How do we install it?
4. PART NUMBER---most important of all!!!!!!!
My Radio Frequency (for keyless entry) is not working, and this is the culprit...i guess.

My last car had the amplifier in the rear bumper. How unusual is that.... or is it? Im no engineer but it seemed unusual since if someone hit it, I had to replace a very expensive bumper. Fortunately I did not have that happen.

The only amplifier I'm familiar with is for the AM part of the antenna. It's attached to the glass just under the headliner on the left side. I know about this because I just had some hail damamge fixed and my headliner had to be taken down. They had to fix it again so the amplifier sat flat on the glass. I think it looks like a plastic strip-- I didn't actually see it, but if you just get your finger under the headliner you can feel the strip.
But, I don't know if this is at all related to your unlock problem.

I was the guy that had the amp replacement fix the RF key prob.
I am looking at my work order, it is not easy to understand because they tried many things in the process of getting it correct.
Including swapping in a known good SAM, cleaning up glue around the rear window etc
Call a dealer and get an exact description of this PN, it looks like the one you may need:
203-820-69-89 "Radio Access"
They removed the headliner, but my guess is, it lives in one of the two panels next to the rear window, start there.

thanks...i think ive seen that component on the C-Pillar on the passenger side. It looks like a ball pen sized black plastic bar with a ground wire on it. Is that all they replaced??????? Did they replace it with the same part number? UUUmmmm further details, greatly appreciated.

I realize this was posted a while back but i am curious as to how much it cost you to repair the hail damage? including window & electrical equipment. I just had hail damage happen to 06' C230, my entire rear window cracked exposing the RF antenna. So now my smart key will not unlock the car while it is in RF mode. IR is working but in that case i'd rather just open it with the key. The radio signal seems to work fine though.
