C240 Extended warranties...
My friend's C240's factory warranty is about to expire. Car currently has 4yrs and 35k miles. She called dealer about the extended warranties, and they are offering $2500 to extend the warranty by 5 more yrs and to 75kmiles. No deductibles. The price is still kind of high. Does anyone know of better deals out there?
Thanks,
Baron

$2500 for 5 years? i have no idea what the extended warranties usually go for but to me that sounds cheap. imagine what a transmission would cost to replace or anything else, you'd pay for it in $2500 alone. hell i paid $4000 in repairs for my bmw in one year.

I thought you could only get an MB extended warranty if you purchased it during the first 12 months that you owned the car ???

Missing my beloved Benz
That extended warranty is not through Mercedes. You have to purchase the ext. warranty within 6 months to a year. After that, you are screwed. That warranty is probably provided by a third party through the dealership. I do not recommend a third party warriaty because 99.9 % are scams and have been researched by the government. The 3rd party warranty companies are from over seas and are not governed by the US and the US laws. Most of the Mercedes benz shops do not accept them but, for some reason, your local dealership is selling it. Something I would called 1-800-For-Mercedes and report. That is not a company allowed thing.

I purchased my 3-year/100,000mi. MB Extended Warranty for my C240 via Courtesy Motors in Chico, California, 530-893-1300 last year for $1,690.00.
Things to keep in mind: (1) You must to buy it within 12 months from date of purchase (2) You can buy it from ANY MB dealer (3) It is transferable (4) Read other posts as to what the additional 3-years/100,000mi. really means since I remember there was some controversy over this.
As to point (4): Say you had a 4yr/50,000 factory warranty, purchased a 3-year/100,000mi. MB Extended Warranty and traveled 25,000 mi/year; your extended warranty would kick-in after 2 years of ownership.

jlm003 is exactly right. The extended warranty trumps the regular warranty. So as soon as you hit the 50K mile regardless of time, your extended warranty begins. Easy way to look at it is like this: based on the fact that people drive far more than 12,500 miles per year, forget about the years - you basically have a 100K mile warranty (if you buy the exteneded warranty).

(I apologize for posting info for a C320 in a C240 thread---the other threads on the warranty topic weren't very relevant in terms of pricing info.)
