I've followed Porsche Pete's Boxster Board
( http://www.986board.com/board/986board.htm )
on and off for about a year, and it seems they have lots of reliability problems, although I'll grant you that people who post on forums, respond to surveys, etc. are usually more prone to complain. But for that kind of money, you should expect perfection.
For me though, the best reason to keep the Mercedes would be the back seat. Do you think you'll ever need one? We plan to keep my ML and my wife's van when I (hopefully) get my C Sports Coupe in the fall. The ML and the van obviously have lots of people-hauling capability, but until my kids are off to college I feel like ALL my cars should be capable of carrying all 4 of us.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it, I think... That flat 6 sure does sound good, doesn't it?
the extra seat would be my deciding factor... and ofcourse the cost of trading in....
Of course from what I've read, you'll be in the shop a lot more than with the MB.

If it had come down to two seaters, I would have taken the TT. I didn't like the Porsche image.
The Boxster was made to reach a lower income, who just want a Porsche.
The dealerships talk incessantly of the Porsche logo options. It made me feel sick.
I think better sports cars can be had for less money. I found the TT a much cooler looking car for a lot less, with the added advantage of having a similar image to MB. Style and quality.
For me the Boxster image is like the Camera and Mustang.

leather , cd, and metallic black....
I don't think the boxster S is worth it, it's 10k more than the regular boxster. The only thing different is the 10 extra horses and the larger brakes.

If the Boxter S does not worth its money, I think Porsche would never develop it. The Boxter is a 220hp/260 NM of torque (0-60 in 6.6sec) car while the Boxter S is a 252hp/305 NM of torque (0-60 in 5.9sec) car. The Boxter is a very slow car compare to the rest of the Porsche lineup (or even compare to many other cars such as S4/TT or S2000). The Boxter S can be considered as a fast car. I have encountered with Boxter S & Boxter on separate occations, although there's no way that they can beat me, but I must say the Boxter S can keep up with me pretty well, while the Boxter is just .......you know what I mean.
Next time please do more research before you make any post.

The same can be said for the C230K Coupe.

Only in the US.
The C-Coupe is alot for not much, regardless of the badge. The same can not be said, in my opinion, of the Boxster.

With the 349 HP in your C32 I am surprised the Boxter S can even come close to keeping up with you. Unless he is a superior driver.
.then of course, u are driving a porsche...u'd get more head turning almost anywhere...anywhere that is, except maybe ny or la or bay area.
