Muß in diesem Fall Ich nicht mit einem großen I geschrieben werden. Natürlich sollte man auch einen Satz mit einem großen Buchstaben anfangen. :p

2005 C230 Mars Red 6-speed
Excellent choice with the Mars Red and 6-speed! It is indeed a rare combination, which makes it all the better. I have gotten more comments on mine than any other car I've ever had (mostly Honda/Acura, granted)! You will stand out in the US with it for sure. Congrats.

ich bin zwar deutsch, aber viel zu faul und scheibe es fast so schlecht wie mein english... (see thread about my wonderful "breaks"... lol)

Weekend Trip to Harz Mountains
Some pictures from my weekend in the Harz Mountains area of Germany (close to the old east / west border). Lots of varied driving; autobahn, landstraßen, curves, mountains (large hills really 3000 ft). The Harz Mountains are very like a smaller version of Vermont or New Hampshire with German style towns and villages.
I now have 900 miles on the car and therefore I started to push the car a little on the way back to Mülheim (where my office is) on the autobahn (100-120 mph legally!!). It still felt stable and safe, much more so than other cars I have rented in the past in Germany.
The car will be handed in to the shipper on Thursday afternoon and then I will have to wait for it to arrive in the states, which I am sure will seem like an eternity. Hopefully they will do a good job of cleaning and detailing it since after a week and 900 miles it is starting to look a little dirty.

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
Great report, nice photo's, and the memories of driving 120 MPH and getting respect.
I dropped my car at E. Harms in Munich, and the dealer was leaving me messages in only three weeks. You can't leave anything in the car, except what the factory gave you. The dealer does all the washing and inspections when it arrives in the US.
DaimlerChrysler does this because it is great PR (look how excited you are!) and the German government gives them about half the VAT (approx 15%) if you show up anywhere in Europe and ship a car out of Europe. You don't actually need to pick up your car and drive it away. Just have a form completed by customs in any EU country (you need to be there) and you can order a car for delivery, or get quick shipment of units in inventory for European delivery.
You get the free hotel and meals because they don't have to pay for delivery to E. Harms, you do it for them!
You get 15 days insurance, but be careful, my policy had a 3,000.00 Euro deductable!
The "bildstand" for my car had delete safety triangle. I wanted one, so I went to a dealer nearby. They spoke perfect English. I told them what I wanted, and they asked what happened to mine? I explained it was a US spec car, and was not included. They told me a triangle, first aid kit, and emergency fuel was mandatory to drive on the road. I was given a triangel, a first aid kit, and a nifty little 2 liter gas can. The dealer charged it to warranty. What a country!

Hey, did you get an European Delivery emblem thing? It looks a bit like a flat badge, but it is not. If so, what is it?

I use this tape from 3M to attach matal and plastic nameplates. Nameplate tape NT3000.

For the person that asked about my triangle, first aid kit, and nifty gas can, the triangle and first aid kit made it, but the gas can was not allowed, even empty and dry. I gave it away.

Please post a pic of this cool badge ?
also, anyone have pics of the grill badge that Mercedes-Benz gives you when you hit mileage milestones (ie 100,000 / 200,000 miles, etc...) ??

Back in the States

Also a picture of the badge that they give MB give you.
On Thursday I drove down to the shippers (E Harms) just outside Frankfurt, about a 2 hour drive from work and dropped the car off. It was sad to leave it, but now I have the fun of anticipating its arrival in the States.
This again was a very easy process, just a couple of papers to sign. Rather than leaving me to find my way to the Sheraton at Frankfurt airport, they actually drove me there, which I thought was a nice touch.
