Verification of order
I've been on this board for a long time now, and the topic of "lost" or delayed orders is a common theme. I don't know how many cars you guys have ordered in general, but I was burned once (not M-B) and it will NEVER happen to me again.
Once your order goes into the system, it is imperative, repeat IMPERATIVE, that you go to the dealer and verify w/ your salesperson or sales manager that the order was placed, accepted and specifies exactly the equipment you ordered. If you can't visit the dealer, have them fax or mail the report to you. You need to see the actual report on paper or their computer screen. Don't take any oral verification as fact. Then, check w/ them every couple of weeks to track the order and let them know you are fully aware of where your vehicle is. It seems from various posts that some dealers either don't know how to place orders, or are just totally screwed up. If you take active ownership of the process you'll ensure you won't be disappointed.
Take this as a friendly tip from a project manager who knows that anything that can go wrong will, and it's up to you to make sure they don't!!
