Anyone in Asia have the alarm beep enabled?

Read in another thread that you can have the alarm (arm/disarm) beep sound enabled through the dealer.
Has anyone in Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, etc) done this?
My dealer told me they can do that for me free-of-charge but they can't show me how it is done. And if I don't like the sound, I will have to pay them to disable the sound.
I am just curious if the sound would be the same as the USA cars.

ctC230K, it was all Thanks to your video (so my answer to you : YES, I like it!) thats why I am asking Asian owners to see if they have done the same thing.

I have made appointement with my dealer on next Tuesday to enable the beep. But I am still worried that the beep sound is different from yours....

yes the dealer can do it. they may say they don't know how, then you will need to print out the steps to show them.

At the dealer, using the MB factory handheld laptop tester, go into the car's computer system.
Go into Programs
Locate the Rear SAM Program
Locate Body
Select Netherlands
Now the car does a "chirp, chirp, chirp" when locking/arming and a single chirp when unlocking/disarming
WaveyKat: yes you will lose panic button but someone on here said they got the panic button to work and kept the chirp but won't tell us how to do it.

Yes, will do that. Lets hope it will sound just like ctC230k's car.
Else I will have to pay to disable it.

How much did they say they were going to charge you for disabling it? If its not too much then it might be worth a try.

Yes of course, it has the motion sensor too.

I went to one of the service centres and they told me they need the STAR diagnostic computer to activate the alarm. By just plugging in the STAR into the car, the service charge alone is about USD47. So I assume the cost of disabling the chirp sound is the same. But I will call them up on Monday to find out.

HakkinenL: does your W203 have a panic button on the key? My dad's W203 doesnt have it that's why I am not sure yet if I can change the setting. But the key is similar with my W203 here in U.S but it just doesnt have panic button.

Pls keep update with us

Thanks in advance

My key only has 3 buttons : lock, unlock, trunk.
I believe in USA you have the extra red Panic button.
Good point you brought up. Wonder if this makes any difference in activating the chirp sound.

Personally, I do not like the chirp. The pitch is a little too high for my liking, if you know what I mean.

Just got it done this morning.
The sound is actually softer than I thought. And will not "wake up the neighbours". Though some may not like it, but I do that for some reasons, such as the assurance that the siren is working and don't have to watch the lights blink 3 times to know my car is locked.

My thanks to ctC230K for his clips.

Pardon the video quality, here is my video:

Actually I don't find the pitch high at all. It is actually a bit to the soft side. :-)
Also, the beep sound of ctC230K & my videos actually sounded louder than the actual sound. If you park the car along the road, you may not even hear the beep from across the street.

We know the US models will lose the panic button function, since we don't have that, do we lose anything else?
