Noise Level
Is the noise level inside the car less in automatic than the manny?
They should be exactly the same. The noise level is a function of engine RPM. If you are at redline with the manual or automatic it will sound the same.
I can't say what the case is in the C230k specifically, but the blanket statement that the interior noise level is solely a function of rpm isn't correct.
Unfortunately there's more to it than that. A transmission certainly can add to the noise level in the car, plus any difference in gearing can make a car seem louder in one or the other configuration through the normal operating range. Not to mention different modal characteristics of the drivetrain that can set off noises inside the cabin.

On a relatative scale they are the same and the difference is minimal.Any sympathetic resonances created within the cabin do not figure into this since this will not be consistent between vehicles.

Lets not get picky.

Don't mean to get picky, but NVH work is part of what I do for a living.
