I think in L.A. they should have a pop up gun holder in it's place. It's so hard to shoot these days with cell phones and coffee spilling everywhere.

DTS,

Well enjoy the most over engineered cup holder ever created!

I guess I wont mention mine broke 3 times so far, but that could just be my unlucky streak with cars.

Congrats, Dts!!! Yes indeed, that part looks familiar. I hope they provided instructions for installation, too. Let us know how easy/hard it is to install it.

Don't let GG ruin your fun. My cupholder hasn't broken, yet. But I don't have problems backing up-hills, either.

Speaking of cup-holders. I saw in the new Mercedes enthusiast magazine that to hold a second cup in the new CLK you have to pull the holder out of the jockey-box and stick it into a slot on the center console. Seems like a weak design to me.

Cheers, BT

PS: The first cup-holder pops out of the dash by the center vents.

Well, you live in Texas, are there hills in Dallas? I don't remember any?

DTS, the cup holder issue is me, not the cup holder, if it's in my car and it can break, it will. Hope you enjoy it.

On coupes- if the cup holder is deployed and you try to flip the passenger seat forward to get into the back, the seat may crash into the cup holder and shear it right off. I haven't done it yet but realize the possibility is there. I never use the holder but the wife uses it all the time. I've formed a habit of closing it (because I know she won't) as soon as she's done with it.

It fits into your standard cup holder. There is a button that you press on top (it's spring loaded, not electric) that causes the cup holder to move up and flip over so that you have two cupholders; the original one, and one to the right of it (passager side; not sure if it's opposite in the UK)which is a little higher. Pixamation had a short video on is showing how it works, but I did a search, and the link is no longer valid.

It's installed now! It looks SOOOO cool . I have a feeling I will be a traffic hazard for a while, when I'm beeing busy playing with it while driving

MB-BOB: It took around two minutes to install and was really a "snap off"-"snap on" procedure. There was a 10 (ten!!!) pages installation instruction in seven different languages. Did anyone say "over-engineering"

Ouch! No!

It's just an over-engineered cup holder for goodness sakes.

I'm confused. Was this cup holder not in the 2001 models?

I'll try to post partnumber later today. The install procedure was really simple. If you look into the center compartment there is like a plastic "cup" to the right (see pic earlier in this thread). This thing is removed and the cupholder takes its plase, snap off => snap on => ready!!!

I'm glad to hear chicks likes it . To bad galaxygrrl don't, since she's a decent percentage of the female users of MBWorld.

I'm not so sure about that galaxygrrl, take a look at the cupholder from the W202 C-Class. It is a serious challenger as the MOST overengineered cupholder ever. It spirals up AND swings out!

The other direction

Does this mean I can remove that damn thing from my
C320 ? I would actually rather have only the
single large holder 95% of the time.
