About 2 months left before the Supersprint C230K header comes out

I called Supersprint up today and they said it would be about 2 months before a C230K header is availible for the 1.8L. This should be pretty interesting since some guys on here are already getting the pulleys on.

The guy I talked to said they would be long tubes, and he doesn't know if they will have a resonator or cat replacement. Judging by the stock manifold design - this long tube header should pick up some serious horses when combined with a pulley. Its not coated though, just polished stainless Also look for a price around $900. Maybe we can organize a group purchase on this and get it even lower.

Sounds like a totally good deal for some major HP gain~, I have a question for anybody that knows the anwer

"How is the Exhaust system on a Stock 2k5 C230SS? Free flow or restrictive?" I know the exhaust was retuned to create a more sporty sound for the 05 SS, but there was no dramatic increase in terms of performance. Would it be necessary to replace the exhaust for even more HP after the header and pulley?

Only issue there is lack of a cat is against the law in the good ole USA in most states. If it aint there you would not pass inspection in PA alone, not to mention fail the emmisions test as well. But alas I am sure you could just keep the old and sawp out and back in during inspection times.

They know this. They usually offer the option of cat or resonator. So if you want, you can keep the cat. And our exhaust seems to flow well except for the manifold - and the header will take care of that. These long tubes should be good flow for up to 350HP or so. I doubt any of us will mod our 230K's to that level, but I bet a few of us will hit 300HP crank with Pulley, header and some other bolt ons (intercooler? ported intake?).

at, I know the concept of headers and all, but how much power could we expect to be added with the SS headers?

Hrm i'm really interested in seeing how much power the m271 engines can really produce with some modding. I'm not exactly sure on the numbers, but the 02's the m111 engines ran at like 7psi boost? And the m271's are running at a very high 14psi boost. I woulda thought the m111 engines would've been able to produce some nice amount of power if more mod's came out for it. But it seems like the m271's are gettin a lot of attention.... i'm jealous :p .

The Cat is built into the stock Exhaust Manifold on the M271! It does not come off to be kept! It is one piece unit! That is why I asked.

Kleeman was at one point working on a new Header for the M271 that included the Cat, or at least a place to put it!

Not to mention the fact that most headers I have ever seen sold were plug and play bolt on that did not require a whole new exhaust system be installed if you did not want to!

Yeah, but it is just a teaser. From what I currently understand, Kleemann will also not market this product at all.

I hope what I heard is wrong, but that header will never be built for mass consumption (more than 1)...

There is nothing between the exhaust manifold and the cat on these cars right? just a pipe? then more pipe and exhaust (muffler) right?

With longtubes, !cat, aggressive pulley, cooler t-stat, colder plugs and maybe a few more bolt on's I think 300 crank is doable. Remember that you can run a lot more aggressive pulley without getting knock when you have headers. Also some racegas always helps with forced induction. Anybody think we could ever see 13's?

Actually this is the first time in my life i've been in a car that didn't at least run 13's or faster!

I was looking on the Supersprint website and they have C180 and C200k headers for cars with factory cat. Is that the M271 or the M111? There was never a C180 with the M111 was there?

Yes there was a C180 with a M111 in Europe. The headers are for the M111 as it has a seperate cat.

No, its a header before the cat on the '02. The cat is IN the header after that.
