"Check Engine"/ bad weather
last thursday in chicago, i drove to work through a bad rainshower.
On the way, i drove through two unavoidable puddles, the kind that covers your windscreen and makes you lose control of the car for a split second.
a minute later the check engine light comes on, i attributed it to water getting somewhere it shouldn't and figured that once it dried out, the light would go off.
it's now sunday and the light's still there.
anyone have any experience with anything like this?
is there a possibility that whatever got wet has already dried out but the check engine light doesn't turn off automatically?
anyone know how to reset the light?
the car runs fine, i think i'm gonna take it to autozone in a couple of hours and see if they can do the OBD thing.
any comments from anyone?

Uh oh! That year/model W203 you have has a problem with certain sensors getting wet They are ruined now and not covered under any warranty and will cost you several thousand dollars to replace. I'd try unloading the car at the nearest used car lot ASAP!!!!!

Nobody owns an MB past the warranty period. Anyway, nobody should be without an OBD2 scanner, they are so cheap now, specially on ebay or you can get software for a laptop at obd-2.com. Some auto supply stores will even read the codes for free. Then you maybe able to figure out what went wrong.

At first this made me think, "YES! I'm SOMEBODY!"
But then it made me think, with the high number of miles people drive these days, which often causes those factory warranties to run out within 2 to 3 years, there must be lots of "nobody's" driving all those older MB's on the streets. I guess Buellwinkle and I will have to sell our problem-free C230's in a couple years so we don't become "nobody's"
