The door lock pin is just sitting in the hole, it does not appear to be connected to anything.
The door will not open from the outside but will open from the inside.
When the auto door locks open/close the doors there is a clanking noise coming from the rear. My old Jeep Grand Cherokee did the same thing. In that situation it meant that the door lock actuator had gone bad and needed to be replaced. Is this the same thing?
Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Where did the door lock mechanism disappear to? Why is the pin just sitting loose in the hole?

Problem Solved!

Opened the door panel.
Reattached the pin to the metal rod
Everything appears to be working fine.
