The sound improvement with an Audio 10 is incredible. I now have bass! Most of the time it is only set at 6. I do miss my AM stations on Nascar race days.

Not that I ever listen to AM, but down here in SoCal I can pickup the 24 hour news stations and radio disney without any problems. They all have a 1 at the end (KNX 1070 is now 1071, Disney 710 is now 711). Have you played with shortwave yet? At night I can pickup some news and foreign language stations. It would be cool to pick up a German language station and tell people its' a German radio.

I'll have to check out the shortwave. Too busy listening to CD's, Sublime mostly.

Audio 10 question - When I cycle through the BASS/TREBLE/BALANCE/FADER.. the last one is TA Volume. What is that?

That is the sound level adjustment. It can be adjusted for each radio preset and for the player CD. I have all of mine set at 3.

2003 C32 AMG
My question is this.. If the car comes with a factory Bose sound system, will I need to change the speakers and add a new amp in order to install a new head unit?

I've spoken to a person at Crutchfield and they said all the MB C class have a seperate amp for each speaker so I can't install an aftermarket HU without having to install new speakers and amps.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks!

Kineda, here's the link to the guy that use VW harnesses. Don't know if it's true but it's there.

Correct me if I´m wrong, but I believe that is the volume level for traffic announcements. I don´t have a Audio10 myself, but TA can be found on most HUs (at least on European models)

Freddys answer is correct! When TA is selected certain traffic announcements will interrupt CD playback and normal radio playback. This TA control can be used to increase/decrease the volume in (if I remember correctly) 4 steps. +0, +3, +6 and +9 dB.

I have translated some of my Audio 10 manual and the TA-VOL is a sound strength adjustment. The TP is Traffic Program used for traffic announcements. TP is disabled using the button that has a speaker and a line through it - like a mute button.

I was wondering why it said that when I pushed that speaker button. I thought it dispensed TP or toilet paper.

Does that work in the U.S.? Have you heard any traffic announcements? I wish I knew someone traveling to the UK or Australia that can bring back an instruction manual.

So does anyone know the true wiring harness # for the c-coupe? Seems like no one here really knows.

Maybe you don't have this in US. Either these messages are a part of the RDS-broadcasts or its a completely different system. I use it all the time, and think it's a pretty neat feature.

Yepp, the TP-button is used to switch on/off the interruption of traffic announcements. I still believe (but you made me a bit unsecure here...) that the TA-vol is used for setting the volume on these particular interrupting traffic messages.

I also think this is not (at least not widely) used in US. Here in Germany I get messages approx 2 times per hour. Sometimes this gets very annoying and I have the TA disabled most of the time. But I agree, it´s a neat feature

Where can I find instructions for replacing the stereo?
