MOM Part 1 of 2 done finally. DVD RETROFIT

I finally finished the first Large Mod to my car. The entire D2b System was gutted for a MOST system. This involved quite a bit of work. Some issues still remain to be cleared such as instrument cluster programming and or replacing. The following was done:

Entire D2b System removed including
Teleaid System
Comand
Cd Changer
Phone System
BOSE amplifier
VCS Unit
Rear Comand BRacket
Upper switch row
a/c controls
wood panelling
sound harness
phone harness
comand harness
d2b fiber loop
TV Tuner
TV Tuner Harness
Rear View Mirror

The above was replaced with the following items
MOST DVD Euro Comand Unit MBENZNL
Most TV Tuner
Most VCS Unit
Most UHI Phone System
Teleaid Module
Phone Harness
Sound Harness
Comand Harness
H/K Amplifier
Phone components such as compensator and teleaid switch, bracket
Upper Switch row
A/C Controls to new digital controls from 05
upper and lower wood panels
CD Changer
05 Rear view mirror w/4 mics
Most Fiber
TV Tuner Harness

This was going on for several weeks and is finally done for the most part. There is a few more things I have done but need to finish up before I post that. I will take pictures later today and post them relating to the above mods.

if anyone is wondering, the mirror had to be replaced because the new system has a seperate microphone gateway with the mirror having 4 microphones compared to the old system which had 1 microphone and NO gateway.

sorry for being clueless...but what was the point of switching everything?

if you sold the command, is it a complicated to install into a car w/o it?

I still have the old comand if you are interested in buying it. IT can be added to a car w/o comand very eaisly. THe newer MOST system has it's advantages over the d2b system. Search the forums for more info. It does the same stuff as the old system basically but is newer technology that is the standard.

If you are ready to spend some $$$ then please contact Steve. Packages are not planned yet but should be in the near future. Some bugs have to be worked out as I stated before. THe minimum at this moment required to switch is the upper and lower wood panels, a/c controls/ upper switch row, rear comand bracket, and DVD comand. You can use the power off the comand to run the speakers. This is the most cost efficient way of switching. Instrument cluster programming and steering wheel controls need to be worked out still which may or may not add an additional cost to the package.

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
That is an amazing amount of work to make all those newer components fit your 2003 car. I salute your ambitious modification. I see a lot of advantages to MOST over D2B with its extended instruction set. Does the CANBUS need to be tweaked for this change to MOST? I am not sure your sound will be that different that it is worth the expense. I did notice quite a difference in braking performance with AMG parts, well worth the cost. The folding mirrors and parktronic are nice touches, and not so costly, all things considered. What does your dealer think of working on your car with the modifications? Any hassles with warranty work?

Why not go all the way now, and drop in an eight cylinder engine? BVROOOOOOOM!

Pictures above shows new Comand unit with new upper row and lower a/c controls and appropriate designo wood trim panels. New wire harness next pic, video on nav next pic, rear seat heater controls on center console, and finally UHI MOST phone system. MOST UHI pSE is behind and cannot be seen but compensator (fin unit) in front.
